Nora Brown

At the beginning of the year, the 15 year old, banjo wielding Nora Brown recorded a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert thirty feet below Brooklyn ground.

I was absolutely fascinated by this performance for a number of reasons. The subway softly rumbling above. The almost cryptic setting of the tunnel. And while Nora is so young, she plays the banjo with such skill and maturity. But most of all, it is inspiring to see a young girl born and raised in Brooklyn carrying on the tradition of old-time folk music.

To no surprise, I ended up falling down a rabbit hole watching a ton of her videos on youtube. It is quite a treat to be able to go back and see her around 7 or 8 years old playing a banjo ukulele and then progress over the years.

Here are some songs/videos you might. You are welcome to fall down your own rabbit hole!
