Let’s take a trip back to 2004 with Teedra Moses’ debut album, Complex Simplicity. When this album was released I was ten years old, and let’s be honest here, my palette of music at that age wasn’t really my own—it was largely dictated by my parents or my older siblings. Needless to say, Teedra was not on my radar back then.
At times it feels silly when I “discover” an artist from the early 2000s or any recent past generation for that matter, but then again, it’s also really exciting. Coming across artists like Teedra is a wonderful reminder that seeking out new music doesn’t mean it has to be new music.
